Perlmutter: Republican Spending Plan Gives More Pink Slips than Natural Disaster Aid

"As the greatest nation in the world, we don't turn our backs on communities hurt by natural disasters, and we don't budget week to week"

Washington, DC -- Today U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) released the following statement in response to the House Republicans' attempted spending plan that gives more pink slips than critical natural disaster aid to our communities:

"As the greatest nation in the world, we don't turn our backs on communities hurt by natural disasters, and we don't budget week to week. We need certainty and we need jobs -- now. My priority is to fight to strengthen our economy by working together to put people back to work."

The spending plan proposed by House Republicans failed to pass the House of Representatives with 48 Republicans joining 182 Democrats in voting against it.
