In Celebration of Memorial Day, Udall Encourages Coloradans to Honor Fallen Troops

Mark Udall
Today, Mark Udall, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence committees, released the following statement recognizing Memorial Day:

“Memorial Day honors our brave American service members who died fighting for our country. It’s a time of reflection, but also a celebration and an opportunity to thank them for their sacrifice for our country and everything we stand for.

“This Memorial Day is particularly significant as we mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11, which changed our country forever. While we’ve seen tremendous victories – including the death of Osama bin Laden through military action – our fight against extremists who mean us harm continues. And, as a member of the Armed Services and Intelligence committees, the safety of our troops and our nation’s security are always on my mind – especially on this holiday.

“As many Coloradans get a much-deserved break this long weekend, I encourage them to take part in one of the many opportunities to honor our service members and to thank the veterans and the troops currently serving in harm’s way.”
