Tancredo to Hickenlooper: Quit Hiding in the Tall Grass on Critical Union Issue Tancredo: I'll repeal the Executive Order unionizing state government before lunch on my first day. What about you, Mr. Mayor?

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO—Today surging independent gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo promised to repeal a Bill Ritter-penned Executive Order unionizing state government on his first day as Governor, while ripping the Denver Mayor and pander bear John Hickenlooper for refusing to say what he would do on the key union issue.

Tancredo said, "I'll repeal the Executive Order unionizing state government before lunch on my first day. What about you, Mr. Mayor?"

The salvo on the government union question is the first in a series of policy statements where Tancredo will take a position on tough policy questions that Hickenlooper has ducked, dodged or pandered on since announcing.

"The Mayor wants a coronation, but I'm not giving him one,” said Tancredo. “We're on his heels, and I'm going to close the gap by being the gubernatorial candidate who, gasp, takes a position on the issues."

Independent polls show Tancredo surging in the polls by 20 points in a few short weeks, erasing a once monster lead for the Denver Mayor down to a 10-point race.

Earlier this week, Tancredo released a new TV ad targeting Hickenlooper's job-killing tax hikes as Denver Mayor. The ad will begin running statewide next week.
