Bennet Can’t Make Small Business Argument & Remain Silent On Job-Killing EFCA

DENVER (September 16, 2010) – As Senator Michael Bennet continues to aggressively court small business support throughout Colorado, he ignores the statements of employers against the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act (EFCA) and remains silent on the job-killing legislation.

“While it’s good politics to talk about the importance of small business, Colorado’s job creators won’t be persuaded with rhetoric,” Sandra Hagen Solin, state director of the Coalition for Colorado Jobs (CCJ). “Senator Bennet needs to put his money where his mouth is and take a stand on the job-killing Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act. Small business leaders are very familiar with the fact that Bennet has stood with Big Labor bosses and he has a decision to make: will he side with small businesses who employ the vast majority of Coloradoans or will he continue to play games?”

Solin commented following public reports that Bennet has made small business legislation a cornerstone of his agenda in the Senate. She said these efforts are overshadowed by his continuing coziness with Big Labor and his votes in favor of controversial labor radical Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

The Coalition for Colorado Jobs has delivered a detailed survey to all federal candidates asking for their position on EFCA and a dozen have been returned. Bennet has yet to reply.
