CSU BOARD REPUDIATES HICKENLOOPER-GARCIA SCHEME TO ABUSE TAXPAYERS WHILE CAMPAIGNING

Colorado Republicans Applaud Board Decision on Garcia Controversy

GREENWOOD VILLAGE- Colorado Republican Chairman Dick Wadhams released the following statement today regarding the decision of the Colorado State University Board of Governors on Joe Garcia, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor and president of the CSU-Pueblo:

"I applaud Chancellor Joe Blake and the Colorado State University Board of Governors for intervening on behalf of Colorado taxpayers and making sure Joe Garcia does not abuse his position as president of CSU-Pueblo while running for lieutenant governor.

"Joe Garcia arrogantly declared this past weekend that he planned 'to serve as president of CSU-Pueblo through at least the November election' despite campaigning virtually full time around the state. Mr. Garcia apparently assumed Colorado taxpayers had a duty to pay him while he abandoned his duties in Pueblo to campaign.

"Chancellor Blake and the Board of Governors put a halt to the Hickenlooper-Garcia scheme to make Colorado taxpayers continue to pay Mr. Garcia during the campaign."
