At Commerce City Council's request, interviews to fill the City Council vacancy created by the resignation of Tony Johnson have been scheduled for June 6th. Candidates to fill this unexpired term are to have submitted a letter of interest by 5:00 p.m. on June 3rd to be eligible for an interview. Council has agreed to conduct 10 minute interviews with each eligible candidate. Letters of interest from interested persons are not being included in the City Council packet. A list of those who have submitted a letter of interest, and who will be interviewed, will be available on June 6th.
On June 6th, the City Council intends to interview members of the community who have submitted letters of interest to fill the unexpired term of former council member Tony Johnson. Because the interviews are only 10 minutes each, the City Council will need to agree on 3 or 4 interview questions that can be asked of each candidate. There will not be time for each council member to ask a question of each candidate. At the May 23rd City Council meeting, council members agreed to bring ideas for questions and then spend the first 30 minutes of the June 6th meeting agreeing on the questions to be asked.
Once the interview questions are approved by the City Council, the council can then proceed to interview candidates.
Council is expected to appoint a candidate to fill Mr. Johnson's unexpired term on June 13th.
