Perlmutter: We have to Keep our Nation Operating -- We Are All In This Together

Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) issued the following statement regarding his vote to keep the government running for three more weeks while the House and Senate finalize a budget plan for the remaining months of 2011.

Perlmutter stated, “While I don't support the week-to-week spending plans the Republicans continue to put forward, we are all in this together and it's important to keep our great nation operating. My number one priority is to get people back to work here in our country, because that’s the best thing we can do to reduce spending and move forward toward economic stability."

"We have to continue to find savings without irresponsibly gutting the critical programs enabling us to build jobs here in our country, educate our children and make the necessary investments in our aging transportation and energy infrastructure, however my patience with the GOP games is wearing thin. I have already voted to cut $50 billion from the fiscal year 2011 budget."
