Perlmutter Statement About Future Government in the Grocery: Jan.29th meeting is postponed

In the wake of the Tucson tragedies, U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter today announced he will postpone his Government in the Grocery previously scheduled for Jan. 29, 2011 to allow time to meet with representatives from the grocery stores and law enforcement to discuss how and when to continue the program.

Perlmutter stated, “I want to continue this program. Government in the Grocery is about being available to listen to the hardworking people in the 7th CD in a less formal setting to talk about the issues on their mind. This kind of access is essential to the fabric of our democracy. In moving forward with our program, the safety of everyone involved must be considered.”

Perlmutter will continue to host a previously scheduled telephone town hall on Jan. 31 from 7-8 p.m. Constituents who wish to participate are advised to call Rep. Perlmutter’s office at 303-274-7944 or visit his website to sign up for the town hall meeting. www.perlmutter.house.gov

Additionally, the Feb. 12 Government in the Grocery is still on his schedule.
