Udall’s Response to Four Mile Canyon Fire

Denver, CO- Today Senator Mark Udall responded to the Four Mile Canyon Fire that has burned 3500 acres, destroying a number of homes and forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents:

“First, I would like to thank all of our brave firefighters who have rushed to Four Mile Canyon in an effort to halt the wildfire moving across Boulder County. And thanks to our state leaders and the swift authorization of funds from FEMA, the emergency response to this devastating fire has been fast. We will continue to work together in fighting this fire until all residents and houses in the area are safe. I’ve offered my help to Governor Ritter’s team and will continue to ensure that federal resources are deployed appropriately to halt this fire and protect public safety. Finally, I will not rest in my efforts to secure additional funding and support to reduce the wildfire threats from dry, dense trees along the Front Range and throughout Colorado--as well as respond to the bark beetle threats.”
