COLORADO REPUBLICANS: COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY BOARD OF GOVERNORS SHOULD ASK GARCIA TO WITHDRAW CANDIDACY OR RESIGN

GREENWOOD VILLAGE- Colorado Republicans today asked the Colorado State University Board of Governors to protect Colorado taxpayers by asking the president of Colorado State University-Pueblo, Joe Garcia, to either withdraw his candidacy as the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor or resign as president.

"Colorado taxpayers should not pay Joe Garcia's state salary and benefits while he runs around the state pursuing his political ambitions at the expense of CSU-Pueblo," said Colorado Republican Chairman Dick Wadhams to Colorado State University System Chancellor Joe Blake. "Joe Garcia should be honest with Colorado taxpayers and either withdraw his candidacy for lieutenant governor or he should resign as president of CSU-Pueblo."

Garcia was named the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor this past week.

The Colorado State University Board of Governors will meet in Pueblo this coming Wednesday to discuss the Garcia controversy.
