Colorado Conservation Voters Endorses John Hickenlooper for Governor

DENVER – Colorado Conservation Voters today declared that John Hickenlooper is the best choice as Governor for voters who care about the environment.

“John Hickenlooper has made Denver a national leader on conservation issues. Throughout his tenure through Greenprint Denver he has addressed Colorado’s most pressing issues from climate change to water conservation,” said Faith Winter, Program Director for CCV. “His accomplishments and his goals to expand the new energy economy and promote energy efficiency statewide make him the clear choice for Governor.”

Hickenlooper’s Environmental Accomplishments include:

* Developing of a green house gas reduction plan.
* Increasing use of public transportation and bikes to reduce air pollution.
* Implementing a ten-year water conservation plan at Denver Water.
* Creating a waste management plan that saw an 18% increase in recycling rates in the first year.
* Requiring all new building by the city to be a LEED Silver or higher rating.

“We look forward to working with John Hickenlooper as the next Governor of Colorado. While we won’t agree all the time we know we will be able to work collaboratively Hickenlooper on behalf of all Coloradans,” said Winter. “We are confident that Hickenlooper will move forward by meeting both our economic and environmental challenges.”
