Firefighters Endorse Romanoff

The influential West Metro Firefighters Local 1309's endorsement has long been considered an important bellwether in Colorado. This week, the union threw its support behind Andrew Romanoff. Local 1309 is the first firefighting union to make an endorsement in Colorado's U.S. Senate race.

"We have a long relationship with Andrew Romanoff," said union representative Sean Jewell. "Over the years, when he was in the statehouse, he took time to understand the dangers we face and supported our concerns. He has always been up front and very well educated on the issues. And we support those who support us."

Said Romanoff: "Firefighters put themselves in harm's way every day. They deserve a senator who will fight for them too. I have and I will."

West Metro Firefighters is one of the four largest firefighting unions in the state with 340 members. It serves Lakewood and parts of Jefferson and Douglas Counties. This is Romanoff's seventh union endorsement. Labor support includes the Colorado Council of Teamsters, UFCW Local 7, the Boilermakers Lodge 101, the Laborers International Local 578, and Amalgamated Transit Union Locals 1563 and 1001.

About Andrew Romanoff:
